Around 6 people have been killed in a mine accident in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya. The Deputy Commissioner revealed that the incident took place late on Thursday at a mining site near Dienshalalu, Sarkari and Rymbai villages. He further said “Altogether, six persons were killed. While the workers were digging a hole in the mine, suddenly the mechanical structure dismantled following which they fell into a pit and died.”
Five of the death people belong from Assam, the MeghalayaPolice have lodged a case against the employer and initial investigation is underway.
