Oscars Awards 2020 postponed due to COVID-19 Pandemic

The Oscar Awards 2020 has been postponed for this year due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. After a meeting accommodated by the Oscar board they decided to push the iconic event by eight weeks. The Academy’s Board of Governors has also decided to extend the eligibility window till 28 February 2021 for feature films.

The Academy President David Rubin and Academy CEO Dawn Hudson said in a joint statement ” Our hope, in extending the eligibility period and our Awards date, is to provide and the flexibility filmmakers need to finish and release their films without being penalized for something beyond anyones’s control”.

The film academy has been in huge loss due the ongoing pandemic which let to shutdown of theaters and eventually hampered every film industries of the world.
