USTM & RIST Observes 74th Independence Day

As the Government of Assam has given relaxation in terms of its on going curfew hours thereby enabling the people to move for Independence Day observation, the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) along with the Regional Institute of Science and Technology (RIST) today observed the 74th Independence day in their head office ‘ERD Foundation’ located in Bhetapara, Guwahati.

The safety guidelines provided by the Government were strictly followed during the observation ceremony. The event witnessed participation of Shri Mahbubul Hoque, Hon’ble Chancellor, USTM,  Dr. R.K. Sharma, Advisor, USTM and 30 percent of other administrative officials of both the institutions. The program started with hoisting of the National flag at 8.30 am and was followed by a short speech by the Chancellor Hoque. Dr. Sharma also addressed the gathering with a brief speech. The speech session was followed by a short felicitation ceremony where security personnel, helping staff and the children present at the event were felicitated.

The short yet affective celebration concluded with singing of the National Anthem. It is also worth mentioning that the administrative officials and other staff members of both the institutions residing inside the USTM campus have too observed the 74th Independence Day by hoisting the Tri Colour in front of the Amenity Centre, USTM.
