1 Dead, 3 Injured in Boat Accident
Guwahati: At least three people were injured and one person has been found dead after a boat accident in the Brahmaputra River near Nalbari district of Assam on Sunday night.
The deceased have been identified as Aijul Hoque and the injured persons identified as Moqibul Islam, Taizuddin Ahmed and Farman Ali.
Locals claim that a country-built boat carrying at least 12 persons crashed with another boat travelling in the opposite direction while travelling from the Goroimari area in the Kamrup district to the Kurihamari area in the Nalbari district.
Locals tried to save the boat’s passengers after the incident.
The officer in charge of the Mukalmua police station in the Nalbari district Simanta Borah , was quoted by the national media, “One person killed and three others were injured in the event and the injured victims were transported to Mukalmua hospital.”
According to a relative of the dead person, “The boats ran with one another at roughly 5 o’clock. The accident resulted in the death of one member of my family and three injuries”.
Late in September, a boat capsized in the Brahmaputra River in the Dhubri area, leaving at least six passengers reported missing. A Circle Officer was among them who was discovered deceased. 72 hours after the accident, the body of the officer who was missing in the boat incident was found.
