1 Jawan Injured in Assam Rifles & NSCN Attack in Mon

Guwahati: An encounter reportedly broke out on Sunday night between the troopers of the Assam Rifles and suspected National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) rebels in Mon district of Nagaland.

The long-lasting gunfight between the two sides resulted in the injuries of two Assam Rifles jawans.

On August 9, a large-scale battle between Assam Rifles soldiers and members of the NSCN and the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) erupted along the Indo-Myanmar border.

It needs to be mentioned that three camps of the Assam Rifles were ambushed by the insurgent groups at Saramati in Nagaland and at Pangsau Pass and Nangloi in Arunachal Pradesh. One JCO sustained minor injury on his hand during the encounter.
