1,000 new beneficiaries included by Assam Govt under Orunodoi scheme in Dima Hasao’s Diyungbra constituency

Guwahati, 3rd Jan: The Assam government, under the leadership of CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, has announced the expansion of its flagship poverty alleviation program, the Orunodoi scheme, to benefit an additional 1,000 beneficiaries in the Diyungbra constituency of the Dima Hasao district. This move is part of a broader strategy to extend the reach of the Orunodoi initiative, which aims to provide financial assistance to the state’s poorest families.

Addressing a public gathering in Dima Hasao, CM Sarma pledged to provide benefits exclusively to the Diyungbra constituency under the Orunodoi scheme after the upcoming elections. He emphasized that 1,000 mothers would receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,250 directly credited to their bank accounts.

Furthermore, the CM assured that the state government would issue ration cards to all families in the Diyungbra constituency within three months, enhancing the overall support to the residents.

The Orunodoi scheme, launched on December 1, 2020, has seen continuous improvements, including the recent introduction of Orunodoi 2.0. The ongoing efforts to expand the scheme indicate the government’s commitment to addressing poverty and supporting women through direct financial assistance.

As part of the Orunodoi initiative, eligible women from low-income households receive a monthly stipend to enhance their health and nutrition. With the recent update, an additional 7.3 lakh beneficiaries across Assam will benefit from the scheme, making it the largest direct fund transfer program in the state.

The government’s focus on inclusivity, particularly in the Diyungbra constituency, underscores the broader vision of uplifting marginalized communities and fostering economic empowerment in Assam. The Orunodoi scheme continues to play a pivotal role in these endeavors.
