11,000 Performers Taking Assam’s Bihu to Global Stage
Guwahati: The largest ever Bihu dance in Assam will be performed by a group of over 11,000 dancers and dhulias (drummers) today with the goal to register their name into the Guinness Book of World Records today.
Assam CM said, ”On April 13 evening, we will make an attempt for the mega Bihu world record between 5:30 to 6:30 at Sarusajai stadium. Earlier, the dance programme was scheduled on April 14, but on April 13 we will start the programme and will make an attempt for the world record.”
”Dancers will too dance on April 14 but the attempt for world record will be done on April 13,” he added.
The Chief Minister of Assam further stated that passes are not required to attend the programme and gave a cash prize of Rs 25,000 for participating Bihu dancers and Bihu dance trainers.
”Today, Assam Cabinet has decided to give a reward of Rs 25,000 each to Bihu dancers as well as trainers participating in the event,” he added.
More than 11,000 performers are eagerly awaiting the time when Assam will witness its much-loved event taking the world stage after months of intense rehearsals.
It needs to be mentioned that, among the 11,000 dancers and drummers who will perform at the event, Dibrugarh district has the most participants with 1400 dancers and drummers.
