13 cadres of AANLA lay down arms in Assam’s Karbi Anglong
Guwahati: At least 13 cadres of an All-Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA), surrendered and deposited their arms before police in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district.
In an arms-laying ceremonial function held at the Bokajan PS in Karbi Anglong district, the AANLA cadres had surrendered in presence of senior police officials.
The AANLA cadres had deposited a huge cache of arms including four AK-47 Rifles, 36 rounds of live ammunition and 5 pistols.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Sarma wrote, “Continuing our peace march, I’m glad to share that 13 cadres of All Adivasi National Liberation Army (AANLA) have surrendered today at Bokajan PS Karbi Anglong in presence of officials of @assampolice, @official_dgar & 20Bn @crpfindia. They have laid down arms & ammunition.”

On the other hand, Special Director General of Police (DGP) of Law and Order, GP Singh also wrote, “Moved by call of peace by @CMOfficeAssam Hon @himantabiswa ji, 13 cadres of militant group AANLA left path of violence today in presence of @assampolice @official_dgar @crpfindia officials at Bokajan PS @karbianglongpol.”
