14 Districts of Arunachal Pradesh Set to Achieve Malaria-Free Certification, Says NCVBDC Officer

Naharlagun: Dr. KT Mulung, the state programme officer of the National Center for Vector Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC), announced today that 14 out of the 25 districts in Arunachal Pradesh are eligible for malaria-free certification.

This declaration was made during the inauguration of a three-day state review meeting focused on vector-borne diseases, organized by NCVBDC.

The meeting aimed to assess the state’s efforts in malaria elimination and to review progress in combating other vector-borne diseases. Dr. Mulung emphasized the significance of these developments in the broader context of public health in Arunachal Pradesh.

Dr. Juliana Lyngwa, the Additional Senior Regional Director of the Regional Offices of Health and Family Welfare in Shillong and Guwahati, commended the remarkable reduction in malaria cases across the state.

She credited this achievement to the unwavering dedication of health officials and field staff, while also underscoring the critical need for thorough documentation to facilitate a seamless transition towards malaria elimination certification.

State Family Welfare Director Dr. Amping Perme reiterated the department’s commitment to achieving a malaria-free status for Arunachal Pradesh in the near future.

“Our focus remains on implementing effective strategies that ensure the health and well-being of our communities,” he stated.

Marge Sora, Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM), assured attendees of adequate funding for vector-borne disease control programs, emphasizing the government’s commitment to improving health outcomes in the state.

The review meeting, which will conclude on October 17, aims to evaluate current strategies and develop actionable plans to expedite progress towards a malaria-free Arunachal Pradesh.

With significant strides already made, stakeholders remain optimistic about achieving full certification in the near future.
