Guwahati: As many as 14 female students at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Khowai district of Tripura collapsed during the school’s annual sporting event on Monday.
According to reports, the female students collapsed after competing in the 600m and 200meter races at the Ramchandraghat School in the Khowai district.
Reportedly, the students were immediately taken to the Khowai District Hospital.
However, the school administration remained tight-lipped about the incident.
The school staff members who were present in the hospital initially forbade the media from taking pictures of the students.
The students’ parents claimed that the girls fell ill as a result of being forced by the school administration to compete in the races in the scorching heat.
The students’ collapse was attributed to weariness by The medical staff at Khowai District Hospital said that the students collapsed due to exhaustion.
A doctor stated, “The students’ condition is stable.”
The students’ parents have demanded that the incident should be investigated.
