Guwahati: 14 students from the Government Dental College in Silchar, Assam have been expelled from the hostel for allegedly involving in ragging.

A few junior students complained about facing unabated ragging by senior students which prompted this action.

The 14 students were expelled on December 2 (a Friday) but the news of the third ragging incident to be recorded in the previous 10 days only became public on Monday.

The principal of the dental college Manjula Das stated that when the anti-ragging team reported the incidence action was taken against the implicated students within a day.

As many as 18 students were expelled in relation to the ragging of a student in the commerce department at Dibrugarh University who was compelled to fall from a two-story building.

It should be mentioned that Anand Sharma was one of two junior-year students who were beaten up by seniors and recently graduated students who were still residing in the hostel. Sharma decided to jump off the second story of his hostel since he couldn’t handle the harassment which resulted in fall shattering his backbone.
