15 Convicts Serving Life Term Released from Tripura Jail
Guwahati: As many as 15 life-sentenced prisoners were pardoned and freed from a jail in Tripura on Thursday.
A CRPF jawan from Agra and two ladies were among the convicts who were pardoned, according to the officials.
In the presence of the state’s jail minister Ram Prasad Paul and other top authorities, 14 of the 15 convicts were released from Bishalgarh Kendriya Sansodhanagar.
According to Ram Prasad Paul, the pardoned inmates had previously served 14 to 15 years in prison and had fully made amends during that time.
The CRPF member is currently incarcerated in an Agra jail, and the authorities there will soon be informed of the decision regarding his release, according to the officials. He was assigned to Tripura and given a life sentence after being found guilty of murdering a police officer in 2008.
