18 People Fall Sick After Consuming ‘Prasad’ in Assam’s Majuli

Guwahati: At least 18 people including three children became ill after eating “Prasad” at a religious event on Friday night in the Majuli district of Assam.

The attendees of the religious event in the Maharichuk area in Garmur and after consuming Prasad they complained of stomach ache and vomiting.

They were all immediately hospitalised to the Sri Sri Pitambar Dev Goswami District Hospital.

The local government thought it might be food poisoning.

Deputy Commissioner of Majuli district, Pulak Mahanta told ANI, “The persons were admitted to the hospital right away. Their condition is now stable.”
