2 Assam Workers Rescued From Uttarkashi Tunnel reach their hometown in Kokrajhar; BTR Government Extends Support
Guwahati, 2nd December: Ram Prasad Narzary and Sanjay Basumatary, the two Assam workers rescued from the Uttarkashi tunnel collapse site, received a heartwarming reception as they reached their homes in Kokrajhar. Residents of Ramfalbil, both workers were greeted with joy and relief by a large gathering, including MLA Lawrence Islari and BTC Executive Member Reorewa Narzari.
Amidst tears of joy and a sense of relief, the workers were finally reunited with their parents, putting an end to days of anxiety. The local community, family members, and well-wishers expressed their happiness at the safe return of Narzary and Basumatary.
Recognizing the challenges faced by the workers, the BTR government stepped in to support their livelihoods. Both Ram Prasad Narzary and Sanjay Basumatary have been offered employment by the BTR government, ensuring that they have opportunities closer to home.
Additionally, as a gesture of financial assistance, the Assam government provided Rs 1 lakh to each of the rescued workers. The BTR government went further by deciding to offer a Mobile Tea Stall to both Narzary and Basumatary, providing a sustainable means of livelihood without having to venture far for work.
MLA Lawrence Islari emphasized that these measures aim to create opportunities locally, ensuring the workers’ well-being and preventing them from seeking employment elsewhere. The gestures reflect the collective efforts to support the individuals affected by the Uttarkashi tunnel collapse.
