Guwahati: Two police personnel sustained injured in a scuffle that broke out between cops and a rape accused on Wednesday.
The incident was reported from Karimganj district of Assam.
As per reports, the police team was attacked by the accused while they were investigating a rape of a minor in the area. As a result, two police officers were injured.
The two injured cops have been identified second Officer-in-Charge of Nilambazar Police Station Pradip Singha and a battalion jawan Gautam Mahanta.
Following the incident, they were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
Meanwhile, the accused Gautam Ravidas have been arrested by the police officials for allegedly raping a minor and assaulting police officers.
Further investigation into the matter is underway
