7 dead, 15 injured in fire accident at Mumbai

Guwahati: Seven people have died and at least 15 persons were injured after a major fire broke out in the Tardeo area of central Mumbai on Saturday morning.

The incident took place around 7 am in the Kamla building located opposite Gandhi Hospital at Gowalia Tank of the area.

According to reports, the fire broke out in a residential building which is a 20-story structure with a ground floor. The fire started on the 18th floor.

The fire department and police had hurried to the scene after being notified.

According to a civic official, the firefighting operation includes 13 fire engines and seven water jetties, among other things, and it has been classified as a level-3 (large) fire.

The injured were rushed to the nearby Bhatia Hospital, where 12 were placed to the general ward due to their stable condition, while three were brought to the intensive care unit due to their serious condition.

However, the firefighting and rescue operation is still on.
