2 Killed, 7 Injured in Landslide at Manipur’s Churachandpur
Guwahati: Another landslide struck Churachandpur in Manipur on Friday killing two people and injuring seven others after striking a pick-up truck, said officials.
A landslide struck a pick-up truck carrying 12 people as it travelled along the Churachandpur-Tipaimukh Road in the Henglep subdivision in the direction of Churachandpur town at around 7.30 am yesterday.
The car was carried off into a wide gorge.
Officials rushed a medical team and an excavator to the scene to clear the landslide, As reported by Hindustan Times.
“The deceased were women and were identified as Lalbuotsai (49) and Lalnunzir. Both were residents of Sipuikawn village in Pherzawl district,” a senior district police official said.
The injured were shifted to the Churachandpur district hospital after obtaining first assistance at an Assam Rifles camp in the village of Aina, the official continued.
At least 49 people were killed after a massive landslide hit a railway construction camp at Marangching village part 5 in Noney district of the state on July 2. Twelve people are still feared missing.
