2 Youths From Arunachal Missing Near China Border
Guwahati: Two youths from Arunachal Pradesh went missing while looking for medicinal plants close to the state’s border with China.
Bateilum Tikro and Bayingso Manyu had departed for Chaglagam in the Anjaw area on August 19, but their relatives didn’t report them missing until they showed up at the neighbourhood police station on October 9. The two young people are from the district’s Goiliang town.
The relatives said that after fruitless searches for the couple, they filed the lawsuit. Locals had last seen the two on August 24 in the area where the search was focused.
According to reports, a family member of the missing Tikro said, “We asked the police’s assistance since we fear they may have crossed over to China accidently.”
Moreover, the families requested assistance from the Army, the State administration, and the Centre in locating the couple.
The lads were reported missing after visiting a border region to gather herbs, according to Anjaw Superintendent of Police Rike Kamsi. The grievance was filed on October 9.
“After interviewing the witnesses, family members, and the border-area people, we will present a report to the State administration. The people frequently look for therapeutic herbs in forests,” the man claimed.
Mr. Kamsi said the boys could be taking shelter somewhere within the Indian Territory near the border. “It takes up to 12 days to reach the site from Goiliang on foot,” he added.
Miram Taron, a young person from the Upper Siang area of the State, unintentionally entered China in January while searching for medicinal plants in a forest close to the border. After India took up his cause at a higher level, he was released a few days after being taken prisoner by Chinese soldiers.
