20 Cattle Heads Rescued As Guwahati Police Foils Smuggling Bid

Guwahati, 9th February: In a proactive operation, a team of Guwahati Police intercepted two vehicles near Guwahati and successfully recovered 20 live cattle believed to be destined for smuggling into neighbouring Meghalaya.

The interception took place during a routine checking at the Jorabat Link Road near Guwahati. Upon inspection, authorities discovered the live cattle crammed inside a truck and a car, indicating an apparent attempt at clandestine transportation across state borders.

Subsequently, four individuals were apprehended on the spot for their alleged involvement in the illegal smuggling operation. The suspects have been identified as Noor Mohammad, Faridul Islam, Riazuddin, and Noor Hussain, all residents of Nagaon district.

Following their arrest, the accused individuals have been taken into custody, and legal proceedings are underway to address the matter. The swift action by Guwahati Police underscores their commitment to combatting illicit activities and maintaining law and order in the region.

Efforts to curb cattle smuggling remain a priority for law enforcement agencies, with continued vigilance and enforcement measures aimed at thwarting such illegal practices and ensuring the welfare of animals as well as upholding regulatory standards.
