Guwahati: Assam Police seized a cattle-laden traveller vehicle in Sonapur town located in the outskirts of Guwahati city as part of their ongoing campaign against cattle smuggling in the early hours of Friday.
At least 20 cattle heads were rescued from the vehicle bearing registration number ‘AS 12 AC 3609’.
According to reports, the traveller vehicle was heading towards Meghalaya when it was intercepted at Khetri.
The driver and another passenger of the vehicle were both arrested in conjunction with the confiscation.
Notably, a Swift vehicle, which was accompanying the cattle-laden vehicle, was also intercepted and seized, however, the occupants somehow managed to flee taking opportunity of the darkness.
