20 mobile phones returned to owners

Guwahati: A total of 20 stolen mobile phones were returned to the owners here on Tuesday.

This was informed by the Guwahati City Police Crime Branch.

Based on specific information, Guwahati City Police Crime Branch recently conducted an operation and busted gangs of mobile thieves in different parts of the city.

While addressing to the media, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of the Guwahati City Police Crime Branch said, “We have conducted an operation against cellphone theft at various areas throughout the city and within 4 days, we have recovered a total of 20 mobiles. Moreover, we have taken harsh action against anyone connected to this.”

Talking about mobile snatchers, the ACP further said, “We also have recognised a gang. The majority of the robbers who steal mobile phones come from outside Assam. There have been many arrests. In order to battle these gangs, we have contacted the nearby states.”
