20 People Quarantined After First Monkeypox Death In Kerala’s Thrissur

Guwahati: As many as 20 people were placed under quarantine in Kerala’s Thrissur after one person died from symptoms similar to monkeypox in the region.

According to reports, the deceased had only interacted with 10 people, including family members and friends.

“There is now no panic in this area because the issue is well under control. Only 10 people, including family members and a few acquaintances, were in direct contact with the individual. isolated 20 individuals thus far, ” said Renjini, Member, Education and Health standing committee.

The Punnayur village in Thrissur panchayat members also got together to talk about the circumstances surrounding the death and the next steps to be taken.

Meanwhile, a high-level investigation into the death of the young person with symptoms similar to monkey pox was started by state health minister Veena George. The young man tested positive abroad and was from Chavakkad Kuranjiyur in the Thrissur district.

Five cases of monkeypox have been documented in India thus far, with three instances coming from Kerala, one from Delhi, and one from Guntur in Andhra Pradesh.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that 78 different nations have reported more than 18,000 cases.

Dr Tedros, Director General, WHO on Thursday that “the monkeypox outbreak may be prevented if governments, communities, and individuals educate themselves, take the risks seriously, and take the efforts needed to limit transmission and protect vulnerable groups.”
