21 Cattle Heads Rescued In Jorabat

Guwahati: As many as 21 cattle heads were rescued by the sleuths of East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) at Jorabat under Meghalaya’s Rib hoi district and Assam’s Kamrup Metro on Thursday.

According to reports, the cattle-laden truck bearing registration number ‘AS 01 LC 8185’ was intercepted at Link Road in Jorabat which was en route Byrnihat from Nagaon.

Meanwhile, two individuals were arrested in connection to the seizure.

The arrestee identified as Mukshidul Islam and Mosikul Rahman hailing from Khatowal and Rupohihat.

Moreover, the truck has also been seized into the connection.

Informing the news on twitter, Guwahati Police tweeted, “An EGPD team from Jorabat OP of Basistha PS intercepted a truck (AS01 LC 8185) at Link Road, Jorabat whilst it was trying to smuggle 21 cattle from Nagaon to Byrnihat. Mukshidul Islam of Khatowal & Mosikul Rahman of Rupohihat were arrested. Legal action has been initiated.”

It may be mentioned that Assam police has been successfully thwarting several such cattle smuggling bids across the state.
