Guwahati, 14th August: In a commendable gesture, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs announced on Monday that a total of 954 police personnel have been honored with Police Medals on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day, which will be celebrated on Tuesday.
The Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) was bestowed upon 8 dedicated officers of Assam who demonstrated remarkable courage in preserving life, and property, and maintaining law and order.
The Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) was bestowed upon 13 officers of Assam for their noteworthy commitment, dedication, and remarkable contributions in the line of duty.
The medals, including the PMG, were granted in acknowledgment of the recipients’ conspicuous gallantry in situations involving saving lives, preventing crimes, and apprehending criminals. Similarly, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service was awarded to officers exemplifying resourcefulness and devotion to duty.
