Lovlina Borgohain: 5 straight wins as she prepares for Asian Games

Guwahati: Ace boxer and Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain won five straight fights to improve her record to 7-0 as she prepares for the next World Championship and Asian Games.

On her path to the future Asian Games 2022 and the World Championships, she had five matches in the span of seven days and won all five.

She Twitted, “7 days…5 fights…5 straight wins,” she said on Twitter (7-0). The road to the 2022 World Championships and Asian Games… It feels fantastic to be able to prove myself once more after the Olympics. “Have faith in yourself.”

The ace boxer from Assam’s Golaghat region gave delight to the entire country when she won bronze in the women’s welterweight event at the 2020 Summer Olympics, becoming only the third Indian boxer to earn a medal at the Games.

She had previously won bronze medals at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2018 and 2019. She earned gold at the first India Open International Boxing Tournament in New Delhi and silver at the tournament’s second edition in Guwahati.

She was the sixth person from Assam to get the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2020. Borgohain is Assam’s first female athlete and the state’s second boxer to compete in the Olympics.
