25-Year-Old Wild Elephant Dies After Skidding Off Hillock in Kaliabor

Guwahait: In a tragic incident, a 25-year-old wild elephant lost its life near Ranglu Amdanga in Kaliabor, Assam, after skidding off a small hillock in the forest late at night. The tusker, believed to have been traversing from Ranglu’s direction, met with the accident, leaving the local community in shock.

Residents who discovered the lifeless animal immediately informed the forest department. Responding swiftly, a team of officials from the Shalna and Kaziranga forest ranges arrived at the site to investigate the circumstances surrounding the elephant’s death. While the exact cause remains unknown, a postmortem examination by a veterinary doctor is expected to shed light on the incident.

This tragedy follows a similar event earlier when the body of another wild elephant was found in Ballamjhora village, within the Raimona Western Forest Range. It is suspected that the animal strayed from Raimona National Park, likely driven by rising water levels in the area.
