3 Arrested For Vandalising I-Day Banners Put Up By Congress in Karnataka

Guwahati: On the occasion of its 76th Independence Day, Karnataka police arrested three people for allegedly vandalizing flex boards featuring images of freedom fighters which was put up on Monday.

As per national media, after a case was filed, three persons were arrested by the Halasuru Gate police station in Bangalore.

According to officials, a complaint was filed on August 14 for outraging religious sentiments under both section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971.

According to them, the lawsuit was brought about by the vandalism of a flex board depiction of Tipu Sultan that had been set on Nripatunga Road in Hudson Circle as part of the Congress’ “Freedom Walk” event on August 15.

According to officials, Manjunath, a member of the Congress party’s Rajajinagar unit, submitted the complaint.

Puneeth Kerehalli, the president of a group called Rastra Rakshana Pade, was also detained at the time.

When D K Shivakumar, the head of the Karnataka Congress, visited the scene of the event, he said, “Someone is trying to cause commotion in the state. They cannot absorb the “Freedom March” of Congress.

Moreover, the state Congress also objected the dropping of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s image from the government advertisements.

State chief Shivakumar demanded an apology from the Karnataka government on Sunday for ignoring the former Prime Minister in their advertisements for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. He also demanded that CM Basavaraj Bommai should apologize.

Additionally, the state Congress protested the removal of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s portrait from official advertisements.

In response to the Karnataka government’s failure to mention the former prime minister in their advertising for the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, state chief Shivakumar requested an apology from them on Sunday. Additionally, he ordered that the CM, Basavaraj Bommai, apologise.

A prominent Congressman named Siddaramaiah added, “It is intolerable to insult freedom fighter Jawaharlal Nehru in an advertising paid for by the taxes of ordinary people. The state’s chief minister needs to apologise to the populace for insulting Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
