Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs, Garchuk Police arrested three narcotics smugglers into custody in Guwahati on Thursday.
According to reports, they allegedly smuggled drugs into the city and peddled them in various locations.
The suspects were successfully nabbed when the Garchuk Police, led by assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Nandini Kakoti, set a trap after getting specific information about their whereabouts.
Police also recovered large quantities of narcotic substances from their possession, informed officials.
The smugglers who were detained have been identified as Safiqul Rahman, Nekib Ullah and Rafique Ali.
Officials also informed that they seized a mobile phone from their possession in addition to seizing 12 containers and a packet containing narcotics.
A case numbered 257/22 has been registered in the Garchuk police station in connection with the matter.
Further investigation in the matter is underway.
