3 Dreaded Criminals Arrested In Meghalaya

Guwahati: Three dreaded criminals were arrested along with arms and ammunition from West Garo Hills district of Meghalaya late Friday night, said officials on Saturday.

Based on specific input, police officials from the West Garo Hills district conducted a counter-insurgency operation late Friday night at the Nikikona village area under Phulbari police station and apprehended three dreaded criminals.

Upon searching, police also recovered arms and ammunition from them.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of West Garo Hills district, Vivekanand Singh Rathore told ANI that, the operation was launched based on secret information.

“We have arrested three criminals and recovered one pistol, one magazine, three rounds of live ammunition, one Motorcycle bearing registration number ML-08G-4295, one Scooty without registration number, two mobile phones, two SIM cards in possession from them,” Vivekanand Singh Rathore said.

The arrestees identided as 30-year-old Silman R Marak, 24-year-old Elias Alom and 22-year-old Nur Hussain.

The senior police official said that a case has been lodged in connection with this and further investigation is underway.
