PM Modi Meets CWG 2022 Indian Contingent at his Residence
Guwahati: The performance of the Indian athletes at the recently concluded Commonwealth Games 2022 was praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who also claimed that the golden age of Indian sports is about to begin.
PM Modi welcomed the Indian delegation to his residence on Saturday.
The team finished the massive competition in Birmingham with 61 medals, including 22 gold, 16 silver, and 23 bronze.
Addressing the sports persons, PM Modi said, “The actual appraisal of this accomplishment cannot be made with merely the number of medals, since our athletes competed neck and neck. We will make up for any differences, even if they are just 1 second or 1 centimetre, I am sure of it.”
“The golden time of Indian sports is knocking on the door, and it is just the beginning. We are not going to just sit quietly,” he stated.
“It is our duty to create a sporting system that is the best in the world, one that is inclusive, diverse, and dynamic. All talents are assets; thus, nobody should be overlooked. We have not only strengthened the sports in which we have excelled but also made a name for ourselves in brand-new sports. In hockey, we’re attempting to reclaim our legacy, Modi added.
He stated, “Since the last competition, we have won medals in four brand-new sports, from lawn bowling to athletics. The interest of youth in new sports will rise as a result of this performance. We need to get better at the new sports.”
