4 Congress MPs Suspended from Lok Sabha over Unruly Behaviour
Guwahati: Manickam Tagore, Ramya Haridas, Jothimani, and TN Prathapan are the four Congress MPs who have been expelled from the Lok Sabha for the duration of the Monsoon session due to disruptive behaviour.
The MPs were suspended for their “unruly and disrespectful behaviour toward the Chair ” in accordance with Rule 374.
The proceeding in Lok Sabha was adjourned till 3 p.m. today amid ruckus and sloganeering by Opposition members over various issues.
Droupadi Murmu took the oath to serve as the 15th President of India before the proceedings of the Monsoon session commenced.
The 64-year-old overcame rival presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha in order to become the first indigenous person and the second woman to assume the top constitutional position. Murmu and outgoing President Ram Nath Kovind entered parliament in a formal parade prior to the taking of the oath.
Chief Justice of India NV Ramana gave her the presidential oath of office in the Central Hall of Parliament.
The Indian Antarctic Bill, 2022, which seeks to establish a legal framework for India’s scientific efforts in the Antarctic and safeguard the ecosystem there, was approved by Lok Sabha on Monday.
Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister for Earth Sciences, introduced the Bill. The Bill aims to establish national safeguards for both the ecosystem that depends on and is related with the Antarctic environment in India. The Antarctic Treaty, the Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, and the Antarctic Treaty Protocol on Environmental Protection are also intended to be put into effect.
