4 Dead, Over 20 Feared Drowned as Boat Capsizes In Yamuna River in UP

Guwahati: In an unfortunate incident, at least four people—including women and children—had died and many more are thought to have drowned after a boat carrying 30-35 people capsized in Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda on Thursday evening.

Reports state that the incident took place while the boat was transporting people from Marka to Jarauli Ghat in the Fatehpur district.

According to police officials, search activities have been started to find the missing people with the aid of divers.

According to police officials, about seven to eight persons were able to swim to safety.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed sorrow over the deaths caused by the boat accident in Banda and offered his condolences to the families of the deceased.

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Uttar Pradesh, said that CM Adityanath has directed district administration officials, NDRF and SDRF teams to immediately reach spot and carry out rescue, relief work.
