4 students involved in ragging expelled from JB College

Guwahati: The Northeast state of Assam has been rocked by another case of ragging. 

After Dibrugarh, this time the incident of ragging has been reported from Jorhat in Assam. 

The incident has been reported from the prestigious JB College in Jorhat town in Assam. 

Four boys of the Syed Abdul Malik boys’ hostel have been expelled for allegedly involved in ragging a junior student.

The boys have been expelled based on complaints by a junior student of the boys’ hostel.

The expelled students are as Jintu Chetry, Bishal Rongpi, Vikramaditya Bora and Akash Jyoti Saikia.

Meanwhile, a former student of the boy’s hostel identified as Ankur Chaudang has been banned from entering the hostel premises for lifetime.

Two members of the students’ union also have been rusticated from their posts in connection to the ragging incident. They are Vikramaditya Bora and Sumit Rai.

Three more boys have received warnings from the college’s anti-ragging committee as a result of the event.

On November 30, the junior student complained to the college officials about nine other students.

Notably, on November 27, Anand Sarma, a junior-year student in the commerce department at Dibrugarh University, severely injured himself when he jumped off the second floor of a hostel to escape a brutal attack by seniors carried out in the guise of ragging.
