4 Trapped Persons Yet to be Traced In Mizoram Quarry Mishap

Guwahati: Four people may still be unaccounted for in the Mizoram stone quarry collapse disaster.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Monday about 2:40 pm. A large earth slide occurred after a stone quarry collapsed near Maudarh in the Hnahthial area, some 35 kilometres from Lunglei.

Eight bodies were recovered till Tuesday morning.

The district administration’s most recent reports state that of the eight deceased who have been located thus far, five are from West Bengal, two are from Jharkhand and one is from Assam.

According to the administration’s assessment, two of the remaining four are from Assam and Mizoram.

Rescue efforts are being carried out at the site of the disaster by a team made up of the state police, Border Security Force (BSF), and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

The bodies that were found were brought to the local hospital for a post-mortem examination before being shipped back to their various places of origin.
