40 OneWeb Satellites Launched by SpaceX
Guwahati: UK-based satellite communications company Network Access Associated Ltd OneWeb said that 40 satellites were successfully launched by SpaceX on March 10 from a Florida launch pad.
OneWeb is preparing for the completion of its first-generation (Gen 1) low earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation and the launch of its global coverage in 2023 with this, its 17th and last launch. OneWeb will complete the worldwide footprint of its Gen 1 network with a launch later this month with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) with 582 satellites already in space.
The most recent launch occurred on Thursday at 2:13 p.m. at the Florida-based Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. Three separation groups were used to successfully separate the OneWeb satellites from the rocket and distribute them over a forty-minute interval. It is known that all 40 satellites are capable of receiving messages.
The launch allows OneWeb to continue enhancing its connectivity as it grows its fleet of satellites and aims to launch services for more partners globally.
OneWeb is bringing new areas online by partnering with leading providers like VEON, Orange, Galaxy Broadband, Paratus, Telespazio, and more. The business already provides connectivity options in key global areas. OneWeb and its partners are committed to close the digital gap and bringing internet access to more disconnected and underserved rural and remote communities and businesses.
