Guwahati : Assam Police has arrested 453 people on 20 September, who were suspected to be involved in illegal land broking activities.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet wrote, “453 land brokers picked up so far in continuing raids by @assampolice in our concerted pledge to end AssamFightsDalalRaj. This notorious practice of brokers/dalals in revenue offices harassing commoners must end. Our fight against nefarious activities will go on relentlessly.”
He further said that the police will continue to take action against those who are harassing peoples in land revenue offices.
According to reports, these accused have been arrested on Monday night from different places in Assam for their alleged involvement in unlawful activities related to land purchase.
It may be mentioned that on September 7, the Assam cabinet decided that the middle man must be eliminated from the system and people should be empowered to get their land related works done without any difficulty.
