4th December : Indian Navy Day

4th of December is celebrated in India as Navy Day  to recognize the achievements and role of the Indian Navy to the country.  December 4 was chosen as on that day in 1971.

There are about 150 ships and submarines and the strength of the Indian Navy includes 67,000 personnel

President of India as Commander in Chief lead the Indian Navy which is the naval branch of the Indian Armed Forces and Shivaji Maharaja is considered as “Father of the Indian Navy”.

Navy day is  celebrated using a particular theme of the year, this time the theme is “Indian Navy Combat Ready, Credible & Cohesive”.
