5.1 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Bay of Bengal
Guwahati: The Bay of Bengal was struck by an earthquake on Monday with a richter scale magnitude of 5.1, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS).
According to a tweet from NCS, the jolts occurred in the Bay of Bengal at a depth of 10 kilometres at approximately 8:32 am.
Reports state that at roughly 9.05 am, tremors from the earthquake were detected in Dhaka and other areas of Bangladesh.
The epicentre of the earthquake was 421 kilometres from Puri in the east and 434 kilometres from Bhubaneswar in the east-southeast, respectively.
NCS tweeted, “Earthquake of Magnitude:5.1, Occurred on 05-12-2022, 08:32:55 IST, Lat: 19.14 & Long: 89.79, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Bay of Bengal, India.”
