555 kgs of Cannabis Seized near Assam-Tripura border
Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs in the state Assam Police in a big development seized a huge quantity of cannabis (ganja) and arrested two persons in the connection in Assam’s Karimganj district along the Assam-Tripura border on Saturday.
The Churaibari WP team launched an operation and one six-wheeler truck was intercepted during which the cannabis was found.
On checking the vehicle, 44 packets of Ganja weighing about 555 kgs was concealed along with scrap metal in the truck.
The truck was coming from Tripura when it was intercepted by Karimganj police.
It needs to be mentioned that the recovered ganja is believed to be worth around Rs 55 lakhs.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Karimganj police wrote, “Last evening, the alert staff of Churaibari WP again recovered a huge drugs consignment of 555 kgs ganja concealed along with scrap metal in a 6-wheeler truck. 2 persons have been arrested.”
