6 Injured in Lightning Strike in Assam’s Biswanath

Guwahati: Six women have been injured when lightning struck them in Biswanath district of Assam.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when labourers were plucking leaves at the tea garden.

According to reports, the injured women were tea garden labourers of Pabhoi tea garden and Majuli Garh tea garden.

The inured women have been identified as Pinki Tasa, Lakhmi Oriya, Pomy Khadal, Momi Bhumij, Gopi Oriya and Kumoli Khudal.

Following the incident, the women were immediately rushed to the Biswanath civil hospital.

As per police officials, three of the six women have been discharged from the hospital and three are still being treatment.

It needs to mentioned that, at least 18 people were killed in the month of April due to lightning and storms that struck different parts of the state, according to a data of Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).
