6 ITBP Personnel Killed, Several Injured As Bus Falls Into George in J&K
Guwahati: A bus carrying members of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) plunged into a steep gorge on Tuesday, in which at least six jawans died and several others were injured in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to reports, the bus was carrying a group of 37 ITBP jawans and two J&K police personals.
Reportedly, the bus fell into the deep gorge after its brakes failed which resulted in two police and 25 ITBP personnel got injured after the incident.
However, the incident took place in-between Amarnath to Chandanawari, as the bus was returning from Amarnath Yatra duty and was its way to police control room in Chandanawari.
While addressing to media an ITBP personnel stated, “A bus carrying 39 personnel fell down into a roadside river bed after its brakes reportedly failed. The troops were on their way from Chandanwari to Pahalgam. Casualties are feared and more details are awaited”.
Meanwhile, Union home minister Amit Shah condoled the demise of the ITBP personnel in the incident.
He wrote on Twitter, “Anguished to learn about the accident of a bus carrying ITBP and police personnel in Pahalgam, J&K. My prayers and thoughts are with the bereaved families. The injured were rushed to the hospital. May they recover at the earliest.”
