6 NLFB cadres surrender in Assam’s Sonitpur

Guwahati: Six cadres of National Liberation Front of Bodoland (NLFB) surrendered in Sonitpur district of Assam on Wednesday.

As per police, a group of about 12 terrorists was thought to be hiding in the Chariduar area near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

Two of them were injured in a gunfight with police on April 1 in the 12 Mile region of Bhalukpong town, police added.

Police officials further claimed that the six terrorists surrendered along with their rifles and ammo after being convinced by the police, as the operation in the area was stepped up.

It may be mentioned that a large number of National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB) militants surrendered after the signing of the Bodo Accord in January 2020, while others formed the NLFB.
