6 Pakistani Civilians Killed in Cross-Border Firing in Balochistan’s Chaman

Guwahati: As many as six Pakistani civilians were killed and 17 others severely injured after Afghan Border Forces opened fire in Chaman district of Balochistan.

This was informed by officials on Monday.

The Pakistani army said that Afghan border forces had begun “unprovoked and indiscriminate fire of heavy weapons, including artillery/mortar upon the civilian population” at the Chaman border crossing.

The army statement claimed that the Pakistani troops responded, without giving details of any losses on the other side.

Meanwhile, the injured people have been shifted to a nearby hospital and the police have cordoned off the area.

According to Afghan security reports, Pakistani forces ordered that Afghan forces halt constructing a new checkpoint on their side of the border. This led to a confrontation.
