62-Year-Old Woman Allegedly Murdered by Family Members in West Tripura
Northeast Desk, 30th September: In a shocking incident, a 62-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her own family members in the Khamarbari area of West Tripura on Saturday. The elderly woman was reportedly tied to a tree and set on fire, in what police believe to be a violent act stemming from a family dispute.
The crime occurred within the jurisdiction of the Champaknagar police station. Local authorities were alerted, and a police team quickly arrived at the scene, where they discovered the woman’s charred remains still bound to the tree. Her body was transported to a nearby hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Two of the victim’s sons have been taken into custody on suspicion of involvement in the murder. They are set to appear in court today, where investigators will seek remand for further questioning.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the tragic incident may have been the result of a long-standing family conflict. The victim had been living with her sons following the death of her husband about 18 months ago. One of her sons lived with her, while the other resided in Agartala.
The case has shocked the local community, and authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the murder.
