7 Killed, 9 Injured in truck-bus collision in Uttar Pradesh

Guwahati: In a horrendous incident, at least seven people were killed and nine injured after a tourist bus collided with a truck in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.

According to reports, the incident took place at Naniha market in the Motipur area and the bus was on its way to Ayodha.

Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar informed that a bus carrying 16 people from Karnataka was going to Ayodhya when the incident happened at Naniha market in the Motipur area as it entered the opposite lane.

An oncoming truck crashed into the bus killing five people, including the driver, on the spot while two others succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital, Kumar added.

However, a total of nine persons have been admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

In the meantime, the truck driver managed to flee from the spot.

Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the incident.

It may be mentioned that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his sorrow over the incident and directed the officers concerned to ensure the injured get good medical treatment.
