7 NPF MLAs DISQUALIFICATION PROCCEDINGS TO BE CONCLUDED IN SIX WEEKS

 

The Kohima Bench of Gauhati High Court has directed the Nagaland Assembly Speaker Sharingain Longkumer to conclude disqualifications plea against seven NPF rebel MLAs   within 6 weeks.The NPF party had filed the disqualification plea against the seven of its legislators earlier namely E E Pangteang, Eshak Konyak, Kejong Chang, BS Nganglang Phom, Toyang Chang, N Thongwang Konyak and C L John  for willingly violating party’s decision to support the Congress Party in the 2019 Lok Sabha Election as they had backed NDPP party in the polls.

A writ petition was filed on the issue backed on April 24, 2019  which is more than 13 months now.For adjudicating the disqualification petition was framed in March and thereafter no progress was made so now the Kohima Bench has directed the Nagaland speaker to conclude the proceedings within a period of six weeks.

The NPF party has issued a statement on Wednesday and expressed hope that all the decisions will be taken a fair manner  without any further delay.
