72 Weekly Flights Will be Operated at LGBI Airport for Summer Schedule

Guwahati: Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati of Assam  has planned to run extra weekly flights for the summer schedule.

The number of daily flights from the airport would rise from 63 to 72 during the time period, according to a statement released by the LGBI airport management.

According to reports, the summer schedule starts on the final Sunday in March and ends on the final Sunday in October. Notably, this summer’s plan includes 572 flights from Guwahati that will use the LGBI airport.

The statement issued by the airport authorities read, “New destinations likely to be added to the list of flights include Bhubaneswar, Goa MOPA, Dehradun, Jodhpur and Coimbatore. Several routes will find additional flights via Bhubaneswar, Chenna, Lucknow and Kolkata.”

According to reports, the LGBI airport had a significant increase in both air traffic movement and passengers following the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Indigo (203 flights), Air Asia (77 flights), and FlyBig are the top three airlines that anticipate the largest weekly operations during the summer schedule. (48). Bhutan Airlines will also start operating on May 13 with its brand-new direct service that runs every other day from Guwahati to Paro.

It should be noted that the LGBI airport saw a significant rise in traffic over the same month last year with close to 4 lakh people passing through in February 2023.

According to the official, of the total, roughly 1,90,000 were arrival travellers and the balance were departure travelers which is an increase of 20% from February 2022.

Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru were listed as Guwahati’s top three foreign destinations in the official release. Singapore and Paro are also the two international locations.

Nearly 1,800 aeroplane movements were recorded at the LGBI airport in February 2023, a 24 percent increase over February 2022. This volume of traffic demonstrates the post-pandemic recovery of air travel.
