7th Convocation at Sikkim Professional University: 129 Graduates Recognized Across Diverse Disciplines

Northeast Desk, 24th December: 129 students across graduate, post-graduate, and diploma programs received their degrees during the 7th Convocation of Sikkim Professional University (SPU) at Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok on December 23, 2023. These students represented various constituent colleges of SPU, including Sikkim Professional College of Allied Health Sciences (SPCAHS), Sikkim Professional College of Pharmacy (SPCOP), Sikkim Professional College of Nursing (SPCON), and Sikkim Professional College of Arts and Science (SPCAS).

Among the graduates, the top performers were recognized with 8 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals. The Chief Guest, Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, presided over the ceremony, with Sumita Pradhan and Dr. Vikas Chadha as the Guest of Honour. The university officials, including Vice Chancellor Prof. H. S. Yadav, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Jaswant Sokhi, and Registrar Prof. Ramesh Kumar Rawat, extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests.

In his convocation address, Governor Acharya conveyed his congratulations to the medal and degree awardees, offering blessings for a prosperous future. He urged the graduating students to contribute to nation-building and emphasized the implementation of the new education policy, NEP-2020, to yield desired outcomes for society.

Governor Acharya commended Sikkim Professional University’s positive impact on the younger generation, particularly in the fields of Nursing, Pharmacy, physiotherapy, and Allied Health Sciences. He encouraged the students to embrace challenges, attributing their ability to overcome obstacles to the quality education and practical experience provided by the university.

Congratulating the students once again, Governor Acharya stressed the importance of hard work for achieving success. He characterized the convocation ceremony as a celebration, emphasizing the vitality of enthusiasm in such moments. The Governor reiterated the significance of the new education policy, skill development, and employment-oriented education. He concluded by stating that humility stems from knowledge and that courage, when coupled with modesty, is truly beautiful.
