7th Guwahati Theatre Festival Set to Enthral Audiences with Star-Studded Performances
Guwahati, 26th September: Guwahati is gearing up for a spectacular weekend as the 7th edition of the Guwahati Theatre Festival kicks off on Friday, September 27. The three-day event promises a stellar lineup of nationally-acclaimed plays, featuring renowned faces from Indian television and theatre, including Mandira Bedi, Samir Soni, and Dilnaaz Irani.
Festival organiser Sunit Jain expressed excitement over this year’s offerings, calling it “a celebration of the human spirit” with performances that range from laugh-out-loud comedies to gripping dramas. The event is set to open with Purane Chawal, a Hindi adaptation of Neil Simon’s The Sunshine Boys, directed by Sumeet Vyas.
Saturday will see the emotionally charged play Anything But Love, starring Samir Soni and Mandira Bedi, which explores the intricacies of modern relationships. The festival will conclude on Sunday with Hidden Agendas, a sharp and witty drama that reveals hidden truths between friends during a dinner party.
In addition to the main performances, attendees can participate in theatre workshops for students and enjoy micro-events throughout the weekend, enhancing the cultural experience. The festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of theatre, drawing both local and national audiences.
