8 Killed, 18 Injured in Blast in Afghanistan’s Kabul

Guwahati: As many as eight people and 18 others were injured at a gathering, following the holy month of Muharram in Kabul of Afghanistan on Friday.

As per reports, the blast took place in a Shi’ite neighbourhood in Kabul.

Reportedly, several peoples gathered the place to remember the first 10 days of the Muslim holy month of Muharram.

Meanwhile, as per reports, the Islamic State (IS) militant organisation has taken responsibility for the explosion.

In Afghanistan, the Shias community has been facing discrimination for many years. The major cities of Herat and Kabul were reporting the prohibition and some Shia Muslims were being pressured by their mosques to break their fast before the declaration of Eid.

The Shias community has been facing persecution in Afghanistan for many years. The reports of prohibition were reported from the major cities of Herat and Kabul with some Shia Muslims also forced to break their fast prior to the announcement of Eid by their mosques.

Notably, bombings and attacks have increased steadily since the Taliban rule took over Afghanistan, and human rights abuses have continued persistently.
